䷉ 10. Treading

Judgment

Treading upon the tail of the tiger. It does not bite the man. Success.

Heaven above, the lake below: the image of Treading. The superior person discriminates between high and low.

Interpretation

Hexagram 10 speaks of proper conduct in dangerous situations. Like treading carefully near a tiger, one must move with awareness, courtesy, and inner strength. Success comes through knowing one's place and acting with genuine respect rather than fear.
