䷟ 32. Duration

Judgment

Duration. Success. No blame. Perseverance furthers. It furthers one to have somewhere to go.

Thunder and wind: the image of Duration. The superior person stands firm and does not change his direction.

Interpretation

Hexagram 32 speaks of endurance and constancy through change. Like thunder and wind that constantly renew yet maintain their essential nature, true duration is not rigid permanence but dynamic consistency — staying true to one's course while adapting to circumstances.
