䷦ 39. Obstruction

Judgment

Obstruction. The southwest furthers. The northeast does not further. It furthers one to see the great person. Perseverance brings good fortune.

Water on the mountain: the image of Obstruction. The superior person turns his attention to himself and molds his character.

Interpretation

Hexagram 39 describes obstacles that block the path forward. Like water pooling on a mountain, one cannot simply push through. The wise response is to pause, reflect inward, seek guidance, and develop inner resources until the way opens naturally.
