䷨ 41. Decrease

Judgment

Decrease combined with sincerity brings about supreme good fortune without blame. One may be persevering in this.

At the foot of the mountain, the lake: the image of Decrease. The superior person controls his anger and restrains his instincts.

Interpretation

Hexagram 41 teaches that genuine sacrifice and voluntary reduction can lead to great blessing. When decrease is embraced with sincerity rather than resentment, it creates space for what truly matters. Less can indeed become more.
