䷩ 42. Increase

Judgment

Increase. It furthers one to undertake something. It furthers one to cross the great water.

Wind and thunder: the image of Increase. The superior person, when he sees good, imitates it; when he has faults, he corrects them.

Interpretation

Hexagram 42 represents a time of increase and expansion. Like wind strengthening thunder, beneficial forces are multiplied. This is the ideal moment for bold undertakings and self-improvement. The key is to channel the increase toward the common good.
