The Marrying Maiden. Undertakings bring misfortune. Nothing that would further.

Thunder over the lake: the image of the Marrying Maiden. The superior person understands the transitory in the light of the eternity of the end.

Interpretation

Hexagram 54 speaks of situations where one enters a relationship or commitment from a subordinate position. It warns against taking initiative in unfavorable circumstances. Wisdom lies in accepting one's current position with grace while maintaining inner independence.
