Preponderance of the Great. The ridgepole sags to the breaking point. It furthers one to have somewhere to go. Success.

The lake rises above the trees: the image of Preponderance of the Great. The superior person stands alone without fear and withdraws from the world without melancholy.

Interpretation

Hexagram 28 describes an extraordinary time of pressure when the structure is strained beyond its normal capacity. Like a beam bending under excessive weight, the situation demands exceptional measures. One must act with independence and courage.
