䷮ 47. L'Oppression

Judgment

Oppression. Success. Perseverance. The great person brings about good fortune. No blame. When one has something to say, it is not believed.

There is no water in the lake: the image of Exhaustion. The superior person stakes his life on following his will.

Interpretation

Hexagram 47 describes a time of exhaustion and confinement. Like a lake drained of water, resources are depleted and words fall on deaf ears. Yet even in oppression, inner fortitude and commitment to one's principles can lead to eventual success.
